Taxi Ride by Michelle K.
"You want to share a cab?"
You can smell the vodka on her breath. You find yourself wanting to taste it. Blinking, you try to regain your sense. There's no reason to share a cab with her. You don't live near each other.
But she probably doesn't intend for there to be two stops.
Neither do you.
She gives the driver one address -- hers -- then there's a long moment of silence. Finally, her: "Are you still pretending that you don't know what's happening?"
"I didn't tell him there would be a second stop," you point out. "You still pretending you're doing this because you're drunk?"
"I am drunk. But it's not clouding my judgment."
"You think this is good judgment?" you whisper.
"You think I'd have to be crazy to want to fuck you?"
You shift in your seat. "I'm not feeling particularly sane."
"You can back out," she says.
You're silent as the taxi continues on.
You get out when she does.
